Basketball Game Preview: Waltrip Rams vs. Sharpstown Apollos

The Waltrip Rams will face off against the Sharpstown Apollos at 1:45 p.m. on Saturday. Both have had a bumpy ride up to this point with four consecutive losses for Waltrip and 27 for Sharpstown dating back to last season.

Last Friday, Waltrip was beaten by Spring Woods 61-12. While losing is never fun, the Rams can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1551st, while the Tigers are ranked 679th).

Meanwhile, Sharpstown took a blow against Spring Woods on Tuesday, falling 61-9.

Waltrip's loss dropped their record down to 2-10. As for Sharpstown, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-11.

Waltrip took their win against Sharpstown in their previous meeting back in November of 2024 by a conclusive 34-13. The rematch might be a little tougher for Waltrip since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
