Volleyball Preview: Mitchell Kernels vs. Huron Tigers
Mitchell hasn't had much luck against Huron recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Mitchell Kernels will venture away from home to face off against the Huron Tigers at 7:00 p.m. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Mitchell is headed into the match having just posted their biggest win since August 30th on Friday. Everything went their way against Tea as Mitchell made off with a 3-0 victory. The win was some much needed relief for the Kernels as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.
Mitchell never let Tea on the board, but things got pretty close in the third set. The match finished with set scores of 25-21, 25-21, 26-24.
Mitchell can attribute much of their success to Ava Brannan, who had 14 digs. Brannan has been hot , having posted 14 or more digs the last five times she's played.
Meanwhile, Huron was able to grind out a solid victory over Pierre T.F. Riggs on Tuesday, taking the game 3-1.
Huron got the W, but it wasn't easy, at least in the first set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 30-32, 25-21, 25-23, 25-17.
Mitchell's record now sits at 3-17. As for Huron, their record is now 7-12.
Mitchell came up short against Huron when the teams last played back in October of 2023, falling 3-1. Can Mitchell avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
