Baseball Game Preview: Washington Wildcats vs. Wyandotte Bulldogs

The Washington Wildcats will head out to challenge the Wyandotte Bulldogs at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Washington will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each match than the last.

On Tuesday, Washington got the win against Schlagle by a conclusive 15-2.

Chris Reno was a standout: he got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Washington's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 4-2 (and 3-10 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Jason Mielkus, who went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.

Washington always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .636. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .581 or higher in three consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Wyandotte was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They lost 16-1 to Leavenworth.

Washington's victory bumped their record up to 7-12. As for Wyandotte, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-17.

Wyandotte's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Washington hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .330. It's a different story for Wyandotte, though, as they've only averaged .169. Will they be able to contain Washington's hitters?

Washington took their win against Wyandotte when the teams last played back in April by a conclusive 17-7 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wildcats since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
