Baseball Recap: Dubois Snaps Four-Game Streak of Wins at Home

DuBois dropped their record down to 9-3 on Friday, which also ended the team's four-game streak of wins at home. They fell just short of the Avonworth Antelopes by a score of 7-5. That's two games in a row now that the Beavers have lost by exactly two runs.

Tyler Chamberlin and Samson Deeb stepped up to the plate in a big way. Chamberlin went 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double, while Deeb got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base. Trey Wingard was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one run and one double.

As for Avonworth, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 13-2-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win they have posted since April 3rd.

On Avonworth's side, Jackson Krul tossed a big game, striking out eight batters over 4.2 innings while giving up four earned runs off seven hits. Those eight strikeouts gave Krul a new career-high.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Mason Metz, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Case Latore, who went 1-for-4 with one home run.

DuBois and Avonworth should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Pennsylvania Rankings. The Beavers (ranked 13th) will meet Hollidaysburg (ranked 104th) at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Avonworth will take on South Park at 7:00 p.m. on Monday with a big rank advantage (74 vs. 210). The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Antelopes 1.9, the Eagles 2.2) so any runs scored will be well earned.
