Football Recap: Holy Cross Takes a Loss

Holy Cross and Old Forge pushed the score to 59-7 the last time they played Old Forge, but on Saturday defenses reigned supreme. The Crusaders took a hard 20-6 fall against the Blue Devils. The Crusaders lost against the Blue Devils in their previous head to head back in November of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 59-7 score last time.

This is the second loss in a row for Holy Cross and nudges their season record down to 3-5. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 6-1 Riverside (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 55.4% over those games). As for Old Forge, their win ended a six-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-6.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Holy Cross will venture away from home to square off against Lackawanna Trail at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Crusaders will need to watch out since the Lions have now posted at least 31 points in their last four matchups. As for Old Forge, they will head out on the road to take on Riverside at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Vikings' defense has only allowed 13.9 points per game this season, so the Blue Devils' offense will have their work cut out for them.
