Recap: Hemet Bulldogs vs. Moreno Valley Vikings
Winning is just a little bit easier when you work as a team to rack up 14 more assists than your opponent, a fact the Hemet Bulldogs proved on Wednesday. They strolled past Moreno Valley with points to spare, taking the game 69-50. Given Hemet's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 284th, while Moreno Valley is ranked 747th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Hemet to victory, but perhaps none more so than Juaquin Martinez, who scored 19 points along with five rebounds. Quinton Skinner was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 16 points and 15 rebounds.
Despite the loss, Moreno Valley still got an impressive performance from Jamall Thompson, who dropped a double-double on 25 points and 13 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Zyetice Hayes, who scored ten points along with four steals.
Hemet is on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 13 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 15-3 record this season. As for Moreno Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-9.
Coincidentally, the pair will both be playing Orange Vista the next time they take the court. Moreno Valley will host Orange Vista at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, while Hemet will head out to face them at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
