Baseball Recap: Newark Comes Up Short

Newark was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 7-6 heartbreaker at the hands of the Stillman Valley Cardinals.

Newark saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kaleb Carlson, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double. That's the most RBI Carlson has posted since back in April of 2024. Toby Steffen was another, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

Newark's loss dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Stillman Valley, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Newark will face off against Ottawa at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Ottawa will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Newark surely won't give up without a fight. As for Stillman Valley, they will challenge Fieldcrest at 1:30 p.m. on Friday.
