Basketball Recap: Grant Best and Noah Mister Secure Win for Chicago Mt. Carmel

Chicago Mt. Carmel waltzed into their contest on Tuesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. Everything went their way against the St. Francis Spartans as they made off with a 69-44 victory. With the Caravan ahead 41-21 at the half, the match was all but over already.

Leading Chicago Mt. Carmel to victory were Noah Mister and Grant Best. Mister went 7 for 13 on his way to 18 points along with eight assists and six steals, while Best went 7 of 9 en route to 16 points in addition to five boards and five steals. Best's evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Cameron Thomas, who almost dropped a double-double on 15 points and nine rebounds.

Chicago Mt. Carmel's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 21-5. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to three-point shooting accuracy: their three-point shooting accuracy was 34.2% in those games and 28.4% outside of them. As for St. Francis, their loss dropped their record down to 11-14.

Chicago Mt. Carmel and St. Francis should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Illinois Rankings. Chicago Mt. Carmel (ranked 17th) will meet Urbana (ranked 216th) at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Chicago Mt. Carmel is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 66.2 points per game this season. Meanwhile, St. Francis will square off against Aurora Central Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on February 11th up 409 places (196 vs. 605).
