Basketball Game Preview: Wasatch Wasps vs. Timpview Thunderbirds

Wasatch and Timpview are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2015, but not for long. The Wasatch Wasps will look to defend their home court on Friday against the Timpview Thunderbirds at 5:15 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Last Tuesday, Wasatch beat Maple Mountain 71-60. The win almost wasn't to be: the Wasps were down 37-23 in the second quarter.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Timpview, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. They enjoyed a cozy 56-37 victory over Spanish Fork on Tuesday. Given the Thunderbirds' advantage in MaxPreps' Utah basketball rankings (they are ranked 19th, while the Dons are ranked 85th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Timpview's win bumped their record up to 11-7. As for Wasatch, they have also been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 15-3 record this season.

Wasatch didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Timpview when the teams last played on January 10th, but they still walked away with a 72-66 victory. Does Wasatch have another victory up their sleeve, or will Timpview turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
