Preview: Soledad Aztecs vs. Monte Vista Christian Mustangs
The Soledad Aztecs will be playing at home against the Monte Vista Christian Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Soledad scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They put the hurt on Pajaro Valley with a sharp 80-56 win. With that victory, Soledad brought their scoring average up to 52 points per game.
It was another big night for Pablo Morales iv, who went 9 for 14 from beyond the arc en route to 36 points and 0 assists. That makes it three consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of Soledad's points. Hugo Barroso was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with six assists.
Meanwhile, Monte Vista Christian came tearing into Wednesday's contest with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 20 points) and they left with even more momentum. They enjoyed a cozy 56-40 victory over Rancho San Juan.
Soledad's win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-10. As for Monte Vista Christian, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-3 record this season.
