Preview: Union Local Jets vs. St. Clairsville Red Devils
Union Local has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will take on the St. Clairsville Red Devils at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Last Saturday, Union Local strolled past Buckeye Local with points to spare, taking the game 71-52. Given Union Local's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 217th, while Buckeye Local is ranked 737th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Dre Saunders, who scored 21 points along with six assists and six steals. He is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Alex Moore, who scored ten points along with six assists and five steals.
Meanwhile, St. Clairsville entered their tilt with Cambridge with five consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with six. St. Clairsville put the hurt on Cambridge with a sharp 84-58 win on Wednesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory St. Clairsville has posted yet this season.
Union Local has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-3 record this season. As for St. Clairsville, they pushed their record up to 10-4 with that victory, which was their third straight at home.
Union Local couldn't quite finish off St. Clairsville in their previous meeting on January 9th and fell 68-66. Can Union Local avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
