After each having a week off, the Kimball Knights and the Lincoln Tigers will shake off the rust and duke it out at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Last Friday, everything came up roses for Kimball against Roosevelt as the squad secured a 42-6 victory. Given the Knights' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 358th, while the Mustangs are ranked 1065th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Kimball's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Charles McCuin led the charge by rushing for 120 yards and three TDs. Those three rushing touchdowns gave McCuin a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Javion Broussard, who picked up 193 receiving yards and one score.

Meanwhile, Lincoln strolled into their game last Friday with a perfect record and they left with the same. Everything went their way against Pinkston as they made off with a 34-13 win. The Tigers pushed the score to 34-6 by the end of the third, a deficit the Vikings cut but never quite recovered from.

Lincoln's win came from a few key players Kimball will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Emmanuel Holmes, who threw for 208 yards and four touchdowns on only 18 passes. Lincoln's leading receiver Okeith Robinson was Holmes' top target yet again, picking up 144 receiving yards and a pair of TDs.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Lincoln was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 209 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 198 rushing yards every time they've taken the field this season.

On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Lincoln's defense and their three sacks. In that department, Dominic Johnson was the leader with two. He is also on a roll when it comes to total tackles, as he's now made six or more in each of the last nine games he's played dating back to last season. Lincoln got some further help from Jarmon Trotter Jr: he forced one fumble and made 11 total tackles (1.0 for loss).

Lincoln's victory bumped their record up to 4-0. As for Kimball, they now have a winning record of 3-2.
