Football Recap: Hoover Starts Season with Loss at Home

Hoover unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They were dealt a 38-0 loss at the hands of the Boaz Pirates on Tuesday. Sadly, the defeat continues a streak the team started last season, making it four in a row.

Boaz found their leader in sophomore Peyton Hall, who threw for 164 yards and three TDs while completing 85% of her passes, and also rushed for 46 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Raina Underwood was another key player, picking up 82 receiving yards and two scores.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hoover will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Spain Park at 5:30 p.m. on September 9. As for Boaz, they will face off against Gardendale at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
