Softball Game Preview: Madison Mohawks vs. Franklin Wildcats

The Madison Mohawks will head out to face off against the Franklin Wildcats at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Madison hasn't scored more than two runs for three games straight, a trend the team is eager to reverse.

Eaton hit Madison with a four-run seventh inning on Friday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Mohawks took a 5-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Eagles. That's two games in a row now that the Mohawks have lost by exactly five runs.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Franklin, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. They skirted past Bellbrook 2-1.

Franklin has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Madison, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-6-1.

Madison skirted past Franklin 8-7 when the teams last played back in April of 2023. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Mohawks since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
