Softball Game Preview: Spoto Spartans vs. Leto Falcons

For the first time this season, Spoto will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup on Thursday. They will venture away from home to challenge the Leto Falcons at 7:00 p.m. Spoto will be strutting in after a win while Leto will be coming in after a defeat.

Spoto will roll into the game after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any runs on Thursday, then bounced right back against King on Tuesday. Spoto was the clear victors by a 19-3 margin over King. The result was nothing new for the Spartans, who have now won three matches by 15 runs or more so far this season.

Lena Murphy made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over four innings while giving up four earned runs off five hits. Murphy was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with four runs, two triples, and four RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Serenity Robles, who went 3-for-4 with five RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those hits marked the first that she got this season. Makiaya Albury was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

Meanwhile, it was a Battle of the Birds when Leto duked it out with Alonso on Wednesday. Leto lost 13-1 to Alonso. The Falcons haven't had much luck with the Ravens recently, as the team has come up short the last seven times they've met.

Leto saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jayla Fernandez, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.

Spoto's record is now 3-4. As for Leto, their loss dropped their record down to 3-5.

Spoto took their victory against Leto in their previous matchup back in March of 2024 by a conclusive 16-5. Will Spoto repeat their success, or does Leto have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
