Basketball Recap: London Continues Home Dominance on Saturday

London lost to Urbana back in February of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Saturday. The London Red Raiders rang in the new year with a 57-48 win over the Urbana Hillclimbers. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Red Raiders' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 237th, while the Hillclimbers are ranked 79th).

Despite the loss, Urbana still got an impressive performance from Peyton Mounce, who dropped a double-double on 25 points and 13 boards. That was a full 52.1% of Urbana's points, marking the sixth time in a row she's posted more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Alisabeth Upchurch, who put up six points and three steals.

London's win was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-3. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.3 points per game. As for Urbana, their defeat ended a six-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 10-1.

London will host Hayes at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Urbana, they are taking a road trip to square off against North Union at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
