Softball Game Preview: Shelley Russets vs. Blackfoot Broncos

For the second straight game, Shelley will face off against Blackfoot. The Russets will challenge the Broncos at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Shelley has given up an average of 6.8 runs per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Shelley is probably headed into the match with a chip on their shoulder considering Blackfoot just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Tuesday. They fell 13-9 to the Broncos.

For Blackfoot's part, Brianna Reynolds made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 14 batters over seven innings while giving up five earned (and four unearned) runs off 11 hits. Reynolds has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-5 with three RBI and one double.

In other batting news, Blackfoot got a massive performance out of Berkley Moore, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those RBI were Moore's first of the season. Another player making a difference was Emma McGuire, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

Blackfoot kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in three consecutive games.

Blackfoot's record is now 11-2. As for Shelley, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-4.

Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Wednesday. Shelley hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.6 home runs per game. However, it's not like Blackfoot struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 1.1 home runs.
