Baseball Recap: San Dieguito Academy's Win Ends Five-Game Losing Streak at Home

San Dieguito Academy proved they can win big on Saturday (they won by 11) and on Monday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged out the Escondido Cougars 3-2. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Patrick Krenkler was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out eight over seven innings pitched. Those eight strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Krenkler wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Gage Garrison, who went 3-for-4 with one run. Those three hits gave Garrison a new career-high.

San Dieguito Academy's victory ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-16. As for Escondido, their defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 15-5.

San Dieguito Academy will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Cougars: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
