Softball Recap: Wareham Vikings vs. Sandwich Blue Knights

Wareham had lost three straight on the road, but on Thursday they dropped down to 6-7 to make it four. They lost 12-1 to the Sandwich Blue Knights. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Blue Knights this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 13-4 back in April.

As for Sandwich, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 13 of their last 14 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-5 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.5 runs over those games.

For Sandwich's part, Sophie Farrington made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out six over seven innings pitched. Farrington has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Lane Kraihanzel, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with two RBI and one run. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Maddie Brown was another key player, going 1-for-5 with two runs and one RBI.

Looking ahead, Wareham will face off against Holbrook at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Sandwich does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
