Volleyball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Areli Villarreal and Arianna Solorio Lead Delano to Victory

Delano entered their tilt with Taft on Thursday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They came out on top against the Wildcats by a score of 3-1. That's the third time they've managed to beat them this season, with their most recent win being a 3-2 victory back in September.

Delano was especially dominant in the third set. The final score came out to 25-18, 22-25, 25-14, 25-18.

Leading Delano to victory were Arianna Solorio and Areli Villarreal. Solorio had 16 digs and three aces, while Villarreal had seven digs and three aces. That's the most digs Villarreal has posted since back in September. Sophia Mellana also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.

They weren't the only good servers: Delano was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 17 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least six aces in five consecutive contests.

Taft's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Mckenzie Montes, who had 13 digs, and Alaysia Taylor, who had three digs and two blocks. Taylor is on a roll when it comes to blocks, as she's now had two or more in each of the last three games she's played.

Delano's record now sits at 16-12. As for Taft, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-21.

Coming up, Delano is taking a road trip to challenge Avenal at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Taft does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
