Softball Preview: Duncan Wildkats vs. St. David Tigers
Duncan is 0-10 against St. David since April of 2019 but things could change on Thursday. The Wildkats will host the Tigers at 3:45 p.m.
Duncan came up short against Lordsburg on Tuesday, falling 17-7. The Wildkats have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask St. David). Everything went their way against San Simon on Friday as they made off with a 29-4 victory. The win was nothing new for the Tigers as they're now sitting on four straight.
Paisley Gooding and Camber Jacquez made a splash no matter where they played. Throwing, Gooding tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Meanwhile, Jacquez pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, she posted three strikeouts, the most she's had since back in March of 2024. At bat, Gooding scored two runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances, while Jacquez went 2-for-3 with five RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.
In other batting news, Austyn Hatch was incredible, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with five runs, three doubles, and three RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024. Emma Hart was another key player, scoring four runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.
Duncan's loss dropped their record down to 5-3. As for St. David, their victory bumped their record up to 9-3.
