Volleyball Recap: Lifespring Academy Falls to Father Capodanno in First Game of Season

LifeSpring Academy had to start their season on the road on Wednesday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They came up short against the Father Capodanno Grunts, falling 3-0. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Lions of the 3-1 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in September of 2023.

LifeSpring Academy was was forced to take the loss, but they sure made Father Capodanno work for it, especially in the second set. The match finished with set scores of 25-10, 26-24, 25-12.

Father Capodanno got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Aubrey Driscoll out in front who had six aces and five kills. Emily Haggerty was another key player, getting five aces.

Father Capodanno pushed their record up to 4-2 with the victory, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season.

Coming up, Father Capodanno will square off against Fayetteville HomeSchool at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. LifeSpring Academy will be paying especially close attention to the Grunts' game: after the Grunts face off against Spirit of Life Christian Academy, they'll take on LifeSpring Academy again on October 3.
