Soccer Game Preview: Galileo vs. Appomattox County

Galileo hasn't had much luck against Appomattox County recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Falcons will face off against the Raiders at 5:30 p.m. Galileo has given up an average of 4.5 goals per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Galileo is headed into Wednesday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Monday. They lost 5-2 to Randolph-Henry. While losing is never fun, Galileo can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia soccer rankings (they are ranked 275th, while Randolph-Henry are ranked 109th).

Meanwhile, Dan River kept up with Appomattox County until halftime on Friday, but afterwards: not so much. The Raiders put the hurt on the Wildcats with a sharp 4-1 victory. The win was nothing new for Appomattox County as they're now sitting on three straight.

Galileo's loss dropped their record down to 1-8-1. As for Appomattox County, they now have a winning record of 4-3-1.

Galileo suffered a grim 6-0 defeat to Appomattox County in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Can the Falcons avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
