Softball Recap: Crockett Comes Up Short

Crockett was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They took an 11-8 hit to the loss column at the hands of the United South Panthers.

Alex Zavala made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 2-for-2 with five RBI, two runs, and one triple. That triple was her first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Sadie Peyton, who went 1-for-2 with one home run and three RBI.

Even though they lost, Crockett hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most five strikeouts every time they've taken the field this season.

Crockett's loss dropped their record down to 1-4-1. As for United South, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-8-2 record this season.

Crockett will take on Seguin at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday. As for United South, they didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 12-6 victory against Nixon-Smiley on the 28th.
