Baseball Game Preview: Burlingame Panthers vs. Capuchino Mustangs

The Burlingame Panthers will face off against the Capuchino Mustangs at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. Burlingame's pitching crew has only allowed 4.1 runs per game this season, so Capuchino's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

On Friday, Burlingame came up short against Hillsdale and fell 6-3. The Panthers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Nick Armstrong was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he tossed five innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit.

On the hitting side, Grayson Howard was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4. Burlingame is 2-1 when Howard posts two or more runs, but 5-7 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Jean-Luc Uharriet, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Meanwhile, Capuchino was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They fell 5-0 to Sacred Heart Prep. The shutout was out of character for the Mustangs seeing as the last time the team failed to score was back in March.

Capuchino saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Andres Gomez, who went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases.

Capuchino's loss dropped their record down to 9-8. As for Burlingame, they now have a losing record of 7-8.

Burlingame came out on top in a nail-biter against Capuchino in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, sneaking past 3-2. Will the Panthers repeat their success, or do the Mustangs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
