Basketball Recap: Make It Two in a Row for Moore Catholic

St. Thomas Aquinas came into Sunday's contest looking for another win against Moore Catholic, but Brianna Caliri wouldn't allow it. The Moore Catholic Mavericks rang in the new year with a 72-64 win over the St. Thomas Aquinas Trojans on Sunday thanks in part to Caliri, who posted 13 points in addition to eight boards and five assists. She is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last four games she's played.

The victory made it two in a row for Moore Catholic and bumps their season record up to 9-1. As for St. Thomas Aquinas, their defeat ended an eight-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 7-2.

Moore Catholic and St. Thomas Aquinas should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in their respective state rankings. Moore Catholic (ranked ninth) will meet St. Joseph Hill Academy (ranked 60th) at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Moore Catholic is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 64.4 points per game this season. Similarly, St. Thomas Aquinas (ranked 31st) will meet Colonia (ranked 240th) at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
