Basketball Game Preview: Lomega Raiders vs. Okeene Whippets

Lomega has gone 8-2 against Okeene recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. After both having extra time off, both will dust off their jerseys to face off against one another at 8:00 p.m. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Two weeks ago, Lomega humbled Cherokee with a 73-35 victory. Given the Raiders' advantage in MaxPreps' Oklahoma basketball rankings (they are ranked 112th, while the Chiefs are ranked 399th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Okeene). They blew past Pioneer-Pleasant Vale, posting a 62-28 victory. The Whippets have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three contests by 28 points or more this season.

Lomega is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.3 points per game. As for Okeene, they now have a winning record of 4-3.

Everything came up roses for Lomega against Okeene in their previous matchup back in January of 2024, as the squad secured a 69-37 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Lomega since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
