Baseball Recap: Newton County Academy Takes a Loss

Newton County Academy was the 15-4 winner over Kemper Academy when they last played one another back in April of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Generals fell 8-4 to the Rams on Saturday. The Generals have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Newton County Academy saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Max Ferguson, who scored two runs while going 1-for-2. The Generals are 3-1 when Ferguson posts two or more runs, but 4-8 otherwise. Another was Cooper Savell, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

Newton County Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 7-9. As for Kemper Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 3-1.

Looking ahead, Newton County Academy will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Prentiss Christian at 7:00 p.m. The Saints have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 6.75 runs per game on average), something the Generals will no doubt try to take advantage of. Kemper Academy will be paying especially close attention to Newton County Academy's match: after Newton County Academy faces off against Grace Christian, they'll take on Kemper Academy again at 7:00 p.m. on the 15th.
