Unaka is on a three-game streak of home losses, Hancock County a ten-game streak of away losses (dating back to last season), but someone's luck is about to change. The Unaka Rangers will take on the Hancock County Indians at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Tennessee (Unaka is ranked 401st, while Hancock County is ranked 379th).
Last Friday, Unaka beat University 37-26. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest win Unaka has managed all season.
Unaka found their leader in underclassman Keyona Hague, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 rebounds. Katlyn Dugger was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Hancock County suffered their biggest loss since November 30, 2023 on Monday. They were the victim of a tough 56-31 loss at the hands of Union County. Hancock County has not had much luck with Union County recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
Unaka's victory ended a eight-game drought on the road and puts them at 3-14. As for Hancock County, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-11.
