Preview: Cranston East Thunderbolts vs. Tiverton Tigers
The Cranston East Thunderbolts will head out on the road to square off against the Tiverton Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Cranston East has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games.
On Thursday, Cranston East earned a 61-49 win over Mt. Hope. Cranston East pushed the score to 51-30 by the end of the third, a deficit Mt. Hope cut but never quite recovered from.
Cranston East's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Mya Jiminez led the charge by scoring 22 points. That makes it nine consecutive games in which Jiminez has scored at least a third of Cranston East's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayna Gunderway, who scored 13 points.
Meanwhile, Tiverton took a serious blow against Moses Brown on Thursday, falling 59-25. Tiverton has not had much luck with Moses Brown recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Cranston East's victory bumped their record up to 6-14. As for Tiverton, their loss dropped their record down to 8-10.
Cranston East came up short against Tiverton in their previous matchup back in January, falling 48-42. Can Cranston East avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
