Recap: Dunellen Destroyers vs. Sayreville Bombers

On Friday, the Dunellen Destroyers's game was all tied up 14-14 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They walked away with a 40-30 victory over Sayreville. Given Dunellen's advantage in MaxPreps' New Jersey basketball rankings (they are ranked 182nd, while Sayreville is ranked 383rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Dunellen found their leader in underclassman Wendy Woll, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 11 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Woll has scored all season. Emily Chalecki was another key contributor, scoring four points along with five rebounds.

Dunellen has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 17-6 record this season. As for Sayreville, they are on an 18-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-24.

Dunellen will be playing in front of their home fans against Metuchen at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Dunellen's defense has only allowed 28.4 points per game this season, so Metuchen's offense will have their work cut out for them. Sayreville does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
