Basketball Recap: KIPP P Takes a Loss

KIPP P was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their 31st straight loss dating back to last season. They took a blow against the Southeast Halifax Trojans, falling 52-12. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Pride this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 59-16 back in December of 2024.

Southeast Halifax's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Keshiya Evans, who posted 12 points. The dominant performance also gave Evans a new career-high in steals (two). Another player making a difference was Ja'Niyla Pierce, who had eight points in addition to six rebounds and five assists.

KIPP P's defeat dropped their record down to 0-14. As for Southeast Halifax, the victory snapped their losing streak at 15 games and leaves them with a 3-15 record.

When KIPP P and Southeast Halifax next hit the court, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. KIPP P will face off against Wilson Prep and their eight-game winning streak at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Southeast Halifax will try to stop North Edgecombe's seven-game winning streak when the meet at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
