Baseball Recap: Columbus Wins Going Away Against Carver

While Columbus put up plenty of runs on Friday, the same can't be said for Carver. Columbus blew past Carver 15-0. The Blue Devils might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six games by ten runs or more this season.

Martin Heim looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Columbus is undefeated when he allows at most one walk, but 8-9 otherwise.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Maddox Anderson, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Axel Serra, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2.

Columbus always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .542. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Columbus is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-9 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.2 runs over those games. This is the second loss in a row for Carver and nudges their season record down to 1-5.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Columbus will take on Hardaway at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Columbus will need to watch out since Hardaway has now posted at least ten runs in their last four matchups. As for Carver, they will head out to square off against Shaw at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
