Baseball Recap: Baboquivari Find Success

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against St. David, Baboquivari was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-1 win over the Fort Thomas Apaches. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Warriors have posted against the Apaches since April 3, 2018.

Siwdag Garcia spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on four hits and racked up 14 Ks. Baboquivari is 2-1 when Garcia allows one or fewer earned runs, but 3-8 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Jesse Buendia was incredible, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with three stolen bases and one double. Another player making a difference was Kolukeo Velasco, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Baboquivari's win bumped their record up to 5-9. As for Fort Thomas, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-7 record this season.
