Softball Recap: Cascade Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Win

Cascade had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 16-run drubbing they dealt North Montgomery on Tuesday. The Cadets put the hurt on the Chargin' Chargers with a sharp 16-0 win. Considering the Cadets have won 13 matchups by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Lacie Godby was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out nine over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 15 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most hits she has posted over her last nine games.

In other batting news, Macey Pugh was a standout: she went a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs, two triples, and three RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Madisyn Padgett, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs, two doubles, and one stolen base.

Cascade always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .694. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as North Montgomery only posted an OBP of .167.

The victory (which was Cascade's fourth in a row) raised their record to 20-2. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for North Montgomery, their loss dropped their record down to 7-13.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Cascade beat the Chargin' Chargers by a score of 11-3 later that day.
