Basketball Recap: South Find Success

If Newton wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played South, they should've done a better job of containing Jace Humphrey. The South Cougars walked away with a 58-47 win over the Newton Railroaders on Tuesday thanks in part to Humphrey, who went 6 of 15 en route to 18 points and eight rebounds. His evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points.

The team also got some help courtesy of Kyler Webb, who posted five points. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in points.

The victory got South back to even at 2-2. As for Newton, they dropped their record down to 1-3 with the loss, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season.

South wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 51-48 defeat against Valley Center on the 20th. As for Newton, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 67-52 win against Salina Central on the 20th.
