Volleyball Recap: Clay Comes Up Short

Clay was the 3-2 winner over Keystone Heights when they last played one another back in October of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Blue Devils fell 3-1 to the Indians on Monday.

While Clay ultimately came up short, they really made Keystone Heights work, particularly in the second set. The final score came out to 25-21, 26-24, 18-25, 25-17.

When it comes to explaining why Clay lost, don't look at Aubrey Sellars. Despite the final result, she had 11 digs, two aces, and one block. Sellars is also on a roll when it comes to assists, as she's now posted 29 or more in each of the last three games she's played.

Keystone Heights' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Mia Rivera led the charge by getting 19 kills and nine digs. That's the most digs Rivera has posted over her last ten games. Kaleigh Marquart was another key player, getting 30 assists.

Clay's defeat dropped their record down to 7-9. As for Keystone Heights, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season.

Clay will head out on the road to challenge Ridgeview at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Keystone Heights, they will be playing at home against Orange Park at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
