Softball Recap: Hononegah's Victory on Friday Extends Winning Streak to Five

Hononegah extended their winning streak to five on Friday, bumping their season record up to 19-3 in the process. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the East Moline United Panthers, sneaking past 8-6. This was payback for the Indians, who suffered a 7-6 loss the last time these two teams met.

Emma Tapia looked comfortable as she tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Mackenzie Haas was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one double. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April. Alexandrea Huber was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

As for East Moline United, their defeat dropped their record down to 16-11. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss they have suffered since April 14th.

On East Moline United's side, Mea Johnson was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Miah Berhenke, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one double.

Coincidentally, Hononegah and East Moline United will both be playing Rockridge the next time they take the field. The Indians will head out to face the Rockets at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, while the Panthers will head out to face them at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday.
