Baseball Game Preview: Triumph Charter Jaguars vs. Vaughn White Tigers

The Triumph Charter Jaguars will be taking part in a tournament against the Vaughn White Tigers at 3:00 p.m. on Monday. Triumph Charter is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.9 runs per game this season.

Triumph Charter will roll into the contest after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any runs on Monday, then bounced right back against Valor Academy on Thursday. Triumph Charter was the clear victor by a 12-1 margin over Valor Academy. The result was nothing new for the Jaguars, who have now won three games by ten runs or more so far this season.

Edgar Arevalos made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in May of 2024. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases and three RBI. He has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last five times he's played.

In other batting news, Triumph Charter let Gabriel Gonzales and Elijah Garcia run wild. Gonzales scored three runs and stole seven bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances, while Garcia went 3-for-4 with three runs, three doubles, and three RBI. Those seven stolen bases gave Gonzales a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Javier Herrera, who went 2-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Triumph Charter always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .618. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 16 runs the game before, Vaughn was a bit more limited in their matchup on Friday. They fell just short of Arleta by a score of 2-1.

Triumph Charter's record is now 4-5. As for Vaughn, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-5 record this season.

Triumph Charter suffered a grim 11-1 defeat to Vaughn in their previous matchup back in April of 2018. Can Triumph Charter avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
