Softball Recap: Riverside Wins Going Away Against Scranton

The matchup between Riverside and Scranton on Tuesday hardly resembled the 1-0 effort from their previous meeting. Riverside put the hurt on Scranton with a sharp 24-3 win. This was payback for the Vikings, who suffered a 1-0 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Addie Smith was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with six RBI, three doubles, and one run.

In other batting news, Riverside got a massive performance out of Mackenzie Keller, who scored four runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Kate Reynolds, who went 1-for-2 with one home run and three RBI.

Riverside now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Scranton, they dropped their record down to 1-1 with the loss, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Riverside will head out to challenge Pittston at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Scranton, they will venture away from home to square off against Dunmore at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
