Basketball Recap: Winthrop Takes a Loss

Winthrop was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They came up short against the Beverly Panthers, falling 70-44. While losing is never fun, the Vikings can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Massachusetts basketball rankings (they are ranked 294th, while the Panthers are ranked 51st).

Winthrop's defeat dropped their record down to 2-14. As for Beverly, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-6 record this season.

Coming up, Winthrop will venture away from home to take on Arlington Catholic at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Beverly, they will face off against Wakefield Memorial at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
