Basketball Game Preview: Hillsboro Eagles vs. Life Waxahachie Mustangs

The Hillsboro Eagles will venture away from home to square off against the Life Waxahachie Mustangs at 5:45 p.m. on Friday. Hillsboro is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 52.1 points per game this season.

Hillsboro will bounce into Friday's matchup after beating Alvarado, who they had gone 1-8 against in their nine prior meetings. Hillsboro was the clear victor by a 64-43 margin over Alvarado on Tuesday. The Eagles have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten contests by 21 points or more this season.

Hillsboro got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Aaliyah Cephus out in front who went 7 of 9 on her way to 14 points and eight rebounds. Those 14 points gave Cephus a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Aaliyah Mcguire, who went 5 of 7 on her way to 12 points and three steals.

Meanwhile, Life Waxahachie came into Tuesday's game having lost ten straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They walked away with a 37-28 victory over Ferris on Tuesday.

Life Waxahachie's win ended a six-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-18. As for Hillsboro, their record is now 16-8.

Everything went Hillsboro's way against Life Waxahachie in their previous meeting back in December of 2024, as Hillsboro made off with a 48-25 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Hillsboro since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
