Basketball Recap: Lily Ramirez's Big Game Can't Quite Lead West Vigo over Indian Creek

West Vigo played a tough contest on Saturday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They lost 49-26 to the Indian Creek Braves. While losing is never fun, the Vikings can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 328th, while the Braves are ranked 111th).

West Vigo's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Lily Ramirez, who posted eight points and six boards. Briley Wolfe also deserves some recognition as she grabbed her first steal of the season.

Ayla Lollar was her usual excellent self, going 7 of 11 on her way to 21 points and three steals for Indian Creek. Lollar is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last seven games she's played. Another player making a difference was Alexa Sichting, who had five points along with 14 rebounds and six blocks.

West Vigo dropped their record down to 5-14 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road. As for Indian Creek, the victory snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 13-7 record.

West Vigo wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 43-34 win against Riverton Parke on the 28th. As for Indian Creek, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 56-45 victory against South Putnam on the 29th.
