Basketball Recap: Hayfield Makes It 20 in a Row at Home

Hayfield extended their home winning streak to 20 games dating back to last season thanks to a huge performance from Parker Cage. The Hayfield Hawks took their matchup on Thursday with ease, bagging a 71-38 win over the Thomas Jefferson Science & Technology Colonials thanks in part to Cage, who went 8 for 11 en route to 21 points and four steals. The contest was his third in a row with at least ten points.

Alex Mcfarlane was another key player, putting up four points along with six assists and three steals. That's the most assists he has posted since back in January of 2024.

Hayfield has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to three-point shooting accuracy: their three-point shooting accuracy was 30.4% in those games and 40% outside of them. As for Thomas Jefferson Science & Technology, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-9.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hayfield will square off against Flint Hill at 5:45 p.m. on Monday. One thing working in Flint Hill's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last 14 matches. As for Thomas Jefferson Science & Technology, they will face off against Justice at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Thomas Jefferson Science & Technology is facing Justice at the right time seeing as Justice is stuck on a five-game losing streak.
