Baseball Recap: Bay Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Bay came into Wednesday's contest having lost six straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They won by a run and slipped past the Piggott Mohawks 8-7. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Yellowjackets have posted since April 23, 2024.

Jaden Dacus made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out six batters over four innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. Those six strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kaden Hartley, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and one stolen base. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Michael Walters was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double.

The victory was their first at home , bumping their record up to 2-9. As for Piggott, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-11 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Bay will welcome Trumann at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Piggott, they will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Cross County at 7:00 p.m. The Thunderbirds have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.06 runs per game on average), something the Mohawks will no doubt try to take advantage of.
