AISA AAA Region 2 recap Oct. 16, 2012
Monroe Academy extended the longest winning streak in AISA AAA Region 2 this week by beating Morgan Academy, 37-0. The win marks eighth in a row for the the Volunteers.
Hooper Academy was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from fifth to third in the league. The Colts defeated Pike Liberal Arts 48-9 earlier in the week.
Morgan Academy's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Senators feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Dalton Lee has thrown for 435 yards and three touchdowns this season, while Harrison Watters has six catches for 141 yards. Jamie Bearden leads the league in rushing with 576 yards.
A big matchup in AISA AAA Region 2 this week will be when the Patriots take on Monroe Academy. Pike Liberal Arts is currently in sixth, while Mitchell Turberville's team is in first.
Fort Dale Academy made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 5,456 from 6,134. The improvement came about via a 41-20 victory over Bessemer Academy last week.
