Marist lost to Westminster back in August of 2022, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Thursday. The War Eagles walked away with a 2-0 win over the Wildcats. The game was the first time the War Eagles have beaten the Wildcats on their court since August 15, 2019.

Marist easily took the second set, but they let things get interesting in the other. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-18, 25-14.

Marist found their leader in freshman Sawyer Straley, who had 13 digs and two assists.

Westminster's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Sophia Alston, who had 18 assists and five digs.

Marist has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-2 record this season. As for Westminster, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 11-5.

Marist wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 2-0 victory against St. Michael Catholic on the 22nd. As for Westminster, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 2-0 win against Union Grove on the 23rd.
