Football Preview: Northern York Polar Bears vs. Mifflin County Huskies

Northern York is 4-0 against Mifflin County since October of 2016, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Northern York Polar Bears will be defending their home-field for the first time for the first time when they go up against the Mifflin County Huskies at 7:00 p.m.

Northern York is headed into their home opener looking to turn things around after opening their season on the road. They took a hard 31-14 fall against Spring Grove on Friday.

Although Northern York took the loss, they still got scores from Tim Gunning and Owin Gilbert.

Northern York wouldn't let Spring Grove keep a hold of the ball as they managed to force three fumbles. It was truly a group effort as Connor Geidel, Gunning, and Jeremiah Coon picked up one apiece.

Meanwhile, Mifflin County blew past Central Mountain, posting a 42-6 win on the road.

A big part of the victory came down to the chemistry between Fletcher Wilson and his top target Landon Haigh. Wilson threw for 159 yards and four touchdowns while Haigh picked up 108 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Haigh's longest reception was for an incredible 71 yards.

Mifflin County didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. Cyrell Green picked up that interception and then proceeded to rub salt in the wound by taking it back the other way for a touchdown.

Northern York strolled past Mifflin County in their previous matchup back in September of 2019 by a score of 42-28. Will Northern York repeat their success, or does Mifflin County have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
