Baseball Game Preview: Willow Spring Storm vs. Middle Creek Mustangs

The Willow Spring Storm will square off against the Middle Creek Mustangs at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Willow Spring is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak.

Willow Spring lost 12-1 to Cardinal Gibbons on Monday.

Willow Spring got a good showing from Chadburn Turner, who tossed 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.

On the hitting side, Willow Spring saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Bryce Marsh, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Middle Creek entered their contest against Green Hope on Tuesday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. Middle Creek fell just short of Green Hope by a score of 6-5. The loss was the Mustangs' first of the season.

Will Tobin made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. He also put up a hit, which was his first of the season.

Having lost for the first time this season, Middle Creek fell to 3-1. As for Willow Spring, their loss dropped their record down to 0-3.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Wednesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Willow Spring has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.3 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Middle Creek struggles in that department as they've been averaging 10.8 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
