Softball Preview: Cordova Blue Devils vs. West Point Warriors
The Cordova Blue Devils will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against the West Point Warriors at 5:00 p.m. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
While Cordova has not struggled against Corner recently, they managed to flip the script on Monday. Cordova came out on top against Corner by a score of 8-5.
Ella Grace Madison was incredible, going 3-for-4 with a triple, two RBI, and a run. The team also got some help courtesy of Shelby Black, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.
Meanwhile, West Point narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Fairview 5-4.
Kara Jones made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out nine batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. Jones was also big at the plate, going 1-for-1 with two RBI.
In other batting news, Brinlee Phillips was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. Macie Brown was another key contributor, scoring a run while going 1-for-2.
Cordova's victory bumped their record up to 9-19. As for West Point, their win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 13-9-1.
